The decor at Clamato is understated yet warm—wood-planked ceiling, brick bar with high stools, reclaimed-wood tables—while the sharing-plates menu, which changes daily, is modern and refined. Arrive early—sevenish—to get a seat, and order a rosemary gin and tonic or a glass of Cornelissen rosé to accompany your Maldon oysters, followed by smoked eel and lentils, or scallops dressed up with endive and orange. The restaurant is regularly awarded a Bib Gourmand in the Guide Michelin, which is more than deserved.

And it was great - as usual. Chef Charles Danet’s dishes, which are prepared in a ridiculously small kitchen, get more and more refined each year.

The wine list also contains some real treasures, and so I chose the 2014 "Les Gryphées Vieilles Vignes" Chardonnay from legendary Jura winemaker Jean-François Ganevat.

Dr. Christian G.E. Here, she shares her recommendations for ten of her favorite Paris restaurants, with casual bistros and Michelin-starred spots both represented.—CNT Editors
ASTRANCE

It’s a sanctuary where you can revel in the pleasures of such dishes as spinach with spicy piquillo peppers, chili pepper sorbet, and baby ravioli stuffed with a tangy bite of citron.
L’ATELIER DE JOËL ROBUCHON

When he opened the first L’Atelier in 2003, Robuchon didn’t know he would one day oversee an empire with outposts in nine capitals. He manages to maintain the high quality with addictive dishes like deep-fried langoustines wrapped in Moroccan brick pastry and his unequaled potato purée.
LAZARE

An honest update of the Parisian brasserie, it serves a changing anthem of favorites—meaty daubes, rich mussels in cream, classic green bean salad with artichokes and hazelnuts.
LE BISTROT PAUL BERT

You’d think it would be easy to create a “new” classic bistro in Paris, but no one’s done it as well as Bertrand Auboyneau, who makes it look effortless.
LE COQ RICO

When restaurateur Antoine Westermann told me that he was opening an all poultry restaurant, I couldn’t believe no one had done it before. He serves perfect roast chicken (or pigeon, duck, or guinea fowl) with crispy fries.
RESTAURANT GUY SAVOY

Each spring, I make it a point to visit at least four Michelin-three-star restaurants, and in the end this one always lands on the top of the list. Try the veal however he cooks it, the famed artichoke and black truffle soup, oysters in any form, and his remarkable desserts.
SEMILLA

Owners Juan Sanchez and Drew Harré and chef Eric Trochon have had a hit on their hands since the day Semilla opened in 2012. It’s usually booked solid—I like to go early to watch the room fill up.
TAILLEVENT

Former owner Jean-Claude Vrinat is no longer with us, but his ideal-host spirit lives on. From the polished silver to the carefully arranged flowers to the art on the walls, all is perfection.
WILLI’S WINE BAR

When Mark Williamson opened his place in 1980, he single-handedly put the modern Parisian wine bar on the map. And he hasn’t stopped running since.
ZE KITCHEN GALERIE

William Ledeuil is at the top of his game here, marrying the best Asian ingredients (Thai basil, papaya) with classic French cuisine.Dr. Christian G.E.

Dr. Christian G.E.
