All Wines (60) on Tap Only: Dinner at Sixty Vines Reston, Northern Virginia, USA (August 2025)

Flying back from Charleston, South Carolina to Munich, Germany, my daughter Cornelia and her family had a 6-hour layover at Washington Dulles International Airport. We met at Sixty Vines Reston for dinner. 

 

Sixty Vines Reston is a wine centered restaurant that has all wines (60) on tap only. The wines selection is very much US-centered and excellent. Sixty Vines is a restaurant chain based in Texas. Currently, there are 13 locations across the USA. Sixty Vines Reston is huge with a pleasant outdoor area.

 

Sixty Vines is very much ecological minded: "By choosing wine on tap, you contribute to a significant 96% reduction in CO2 footprint compared to bottle." Still, I found the wine lost its soul and I did not enjoy the wine as much as when I pour the wine from a bottle. Although the service and the food were very good, I would not want to go back there, notwithstanding the excellent selection of wines.

 

However, everybody else at our table loved the place. In particular, when we were waiting for a table and the kids git a bit cranky, the Manager came over to us and invited the kids to the Pizzo oven to make their own pizzas. This was very much appreciated by their mother and father. I am sure, next time Cornelia and her family stop over again at Dulles Airport with a considerable layover, we will be back at Sixty Vine Reston.
