Duck Confit, Steak Frites and Loire Wines at Pastis DC in Downtown Washington DC (August 2025)

#WashingtonDC #Pastis Annette Schiller and I had dinner at Pastis DC, the sister restaurant of Pastis in the Meatpacker District. We like to go there when we are up in New York. Both offer traditional French brasserie food like steak frites, which I took. The wine list is good and I went for a Chinon from @Bernard Boudry, which we will visit on the forthcoming Loire Valley Tour by Ombiasy Public Relations and Wine Tours Domaine Bernard Baudry

. It's known for its French-inspired bistro fare and classic New York City tavern ambiance.
Literary hangout: Established after prohibition, it has been a gathering place for writers, artists, and bohemians since its opening in 1937. Ernest Hemingway, Ezra Pound, E.E. Cummings, Dylan Thomas. It was a popular spot for the "beat generation" in the early 1950s. In 2008, Keith McNally took over the tavern and refurbished it, maintaining its classic New York City atmosphere while introducing a new menu.
