Following the visit of the Cooperage Berger et Fils, we drove to Le Peyrat in Saint-Estèphe and had lunch there. This unassuming, very traditional French restaurant right on the banks of the Gironde River is always packed for lunch, because it is the favorite hangout for the locals, including winemakers of the neighboring châteaux. Gimenez Jean Bernard is the General Manager.

Le Gérant (Gimenez Jean Bernard): Déjà réputé pour ses Anguilles que les gens du crû et la clientèle de passage venaient déguster, j’ai tenu à les maintenir au menu. Je me suis attaché à cette belle région riche en culture ainsi qu’à ses habitants fidèles à leurs traditions.
N’étant pas Médocain de souche, je le suis de cœur, c’est pour cela que j’ai voulu une cuisine à leur image généreuse, conviviale et authentique.
