Lunch at "la fattoria", an High-end Italian Restaurant in Walldorf, near Frankfurt, Germany, with Host Chester Sauri (July 2025)





I enjoyed a relaxing Italian lunch at la fattoria in Walldorf, with Claudia, Louie and Annette. We sat outside on the terrace under an awning. 
 
la fattoria is an old-school restaurant with mostly regulars, serving top notch Italian food in a relaxed atmosphere. 
 
The restaurant is located "in the middle of nowhere", in a residential area of Walldorf, about 20 km south of Frankfurt, but very close to the S-Bahn station, conveniently linking it with Frankfurt downtown. 
 
Since its opening 50 years ago, I was told, co-owner Chester Sauri is in the restaurant every day - as he was when we were there - taking the orders from his guests.
 
There is a menu with about 2 dozens or so of items. In addition, there is a pretty long list of recommendations of the day (easily more than a dozen items), which Chester Sauri presents verbally to you. He does that at every table. 

The wine list contains a broad selection of Italian wines at reasonable prices. 
 
Certainly, one of the best Italian restaurants in the greater Frankfurt area. We enjoyed Italian cooking at its best with most exciting Italian wines and a feel-good Italian atmosphere.
 
We will be back.
