Wines from Greece (but also from Austria, Spain and Georgia) and Greek Food at Legendary Samos Restaurant in Greektown, the Greek District of Baltimore, USA (August 2026)

Fun dinner at Samos Restaurant in Greektown, the Greek district of Baltimore.

Baltimore is hometown to one of the most historically significant and vibrant Greek-American communities in the US, established starting in the 1890s. Because there was no direct steamship service from the Mediterranean to the port of Baltimore, many Greek immigrants came by train, often from New York City. The peak of the Greek migration to Baltimore was between the 1930s and the 1950s.

Samos is a legendary, previously cash-only, cornerstone in Greektown. We went there because the corkage fee is only US$3 (per person). We brought 5 bottles of wine.
