Dinner at Restaurant L' Ecume - #1 in the "Fine Dining" Category of Journal Frankfurt/ 2023 - with Chef/ Owner Alex Sadowczyk, Germany, 2022



In October 2022, our Frankfurt Gourmet Group had their monthly dinner at L’ Ecume in Frankfurt and Annette and I - a couple of days in Frankfurt on the way back from the Bordeaux Tour 2022 by ombiasy to Washington DC - were able to participate. Annette and I had eaten there a year ago at the occasion of our 45th wedding anniversary.

Chef Alexandre Sadowczyk

Alexandre Sadowczyk is from the Champagne region. He worked at Restaurant Jules Verne of Alan Ducasse in Paris, at Per Se of Thomas Keller in New York and at Restaurant L´Arnsbourg in Baerenthal in Alsace. 

In Frankfurt, he started his career at Lafleur (2 stars Michelin) and also was the head chef at Weinsinn (1 star Michelin) and at Wilma (1 star Michelin).

Looking at his impressive CV, obviously Alexandre Sadowczyk is a talented chef. But he is flying a bit under the radar currently. L'Ecume is neither listed in the recent Michelin Guide nor in the recent Gault Millau Guide. I would put L'Ecume at 15 points in terms of the Gault Millau Guide rating system. 

L`Ecume is the best restaurant in the "Fine Dining" category of Journal Frankfurt/ 2023. 

Reflecting Alexandre Sadowczyk`s roots in the Champagne region, wine list of L'Ecume is dominated by French wines and is n particular strong in terms of Champagnes.

The menu is small and contains 9 courses. You can choose between any of them, starting with 4 courses.

We chose between 5 and 6 courses. The 6 of us had 9 bottles of wine.
