German Wine Society (Capital Chapter) Membership Meeting 2023: Carl Willner Re-elected President and Christian Schiller Re-elected Vice-president, USA/ Germany

 

This year’s Membership Meeting of the German Wine Society Capital Chapter (Washington DC, USA) took place on February 18, 2023 using Zoom. 

The mission of the German Wine Society is to promote the understanding, appreciation, and knowledge of German wines. We conduct tasting seminars and pairing meals to enhance the appreciation of German wines and assist our members in their continuing education.

Following reports from the officers of the Chapter, the annual chapter election for officers and directors was held. By voice vote without dissent, in addition to two written ballots received, all members of the board who were running unopposed were re-elected to their positions, including Carl Willner as President and Secretary, Christian Schiller as Vice President, Ken Belsley as Treasurer, Karen Stokes as Director and Cellarmaster, and Jim Palanchar as Director. Member Klaus Teuter, who has considerable experience working with computers, agreed to have his name placed in nomination to succeed Maria So as Director as Director and Webmaster, and was also elected by voice vote without dissent to this position. 

The business portion of the meeting was followed by the fun part - a multiple-choice quiz on knowledge of German wines with the opportunity to win several wine prizes from out cellar. 

Last year, the German Wine Society celebrated its 45th Anniversary at the German Embassy in Washington DC.

The last event of the German Wine Society - Washington DC was the Holiday Dinner at the Cosmos Club.
