What a Riesling feast! 
 
15 tables. 15 winemakers - 3 from Austria and 12 from Germany. 
 
At each table was one winemaker presenting his or her wines and 9 guests. Each guest also brought one or more bottles. 
 
Annette Schiller Ombiasy Public Relations and Wine Tours and I were seated at the table of Johanna and Lucas F. Pichler @Weingut FX Pichler in the Wachau. We were pampered by Lucas with various older vintages of his iconic Unendlich, including the first vintage (1998).
 
Each table had his own sommelier. Jin Ahn of Manhattan’s Noreetuh was the 2025 Rieslingfeier’s Chef Sommelier.
 
I estimate there were about 300 extraordinary wines, many 20, 30, 40 years old, many larger format and almost all ultra-premium, for 150 guests.
 
The event took place at the @Sky Loft on the 32th floor of the 76 floors high 50 Hudson Yard building. The headquarters of @Blackrock, the asset management giant, is also there. 
 
We had the stunning NYC skyline at our feet.

The Rieslingfeier gala dinner is the cornerstone event of the Rieslingfeier program; this is without doubt the greatest Riesling “BYOB” dinner in the world.

The eighth annual Rieslingfeier gala dinner will bring together winemakers from many of the greatest estates in Germany and Austria. Each estate will be bringing selected bottles from their cellars to share. Guests are invited to do the same. A seated, five-course menu designed by Andrew Carmellini and his NoHo Hospitality Group will highlight dry to off-dry styles of Riesling. The Gala dinner costs $500 excluding NY state sales tax.

We are thrilled to welcome Leo Alzinger, Frank Schönleber (Emrich-Schönleber), Julian and Nadine Haart, Lukas Hammelmann, Franz and Theresa Hirtzberger, Mathieu Kauffmann (Karthäuserhof), Klaus Peter and Julia Keller, Dominik Sona (Koehler-Ruprecht), Florian Lauer, Christopher Loewen, Veronika Lintner (Egon Müller), Lucas and Johanna Pichler (F.X. Pichler), Katharina Prüm, Hans and Valentin Rebholz, and Thomas and Lara Haag (Schloss Lieser).

The one and only Jin Ahn of Manhattan’s Noreetuh will be the 2025 Rieslingfeier’s Chef Sommelier. Expect a team of sommeliers from around the U.S. for top-level wine service.
