German Wine Society (Capital Chapter) Membership Meeting 2024: Carl Willner Re-elected President and Christian Schiller Re-elected Vice-president, USA/ Germany

 

Carl Willner: The German Wine Society’s Capital Chapter held its annual membership meeting online using Zoom on Saturday, February 17, 2024, between 4 pm and 6:30 pm. We had 22 persons registered to attend, on 18 distinct email accounts with some couples sharing an account. ...

 

At the start of the meeting, which commenced at 4:13 pm, I introduced Daniel Purdom, an at-large GWS member from the Kansas City, MO area, who is seeking to form a GWS chapter there. He shared information about the Kansas City German wine situation and challenges of finding distributors, but also that they had a couple of wine bars and a restaurant serving German wines.  ...

 

We then turned to the Chapter Board election. ... 

 

The Chapter Board now consists of:  Carl Willner as President and Secretary, Christian Schiller as Vice President, Ken Belsley as Treasurer, Jim Palanchar as Director, Karen Stokes and Director and Cellarmaster, Klaus Teuter as Director and Webmaster, and Maureen Blum as Director. ...

Once the business meeting concluded at 5:40 pm, we turned to the wine quiz prepared by Karen Stokes. ... 

With this, the Membership Meeting was concluded on time at 6:30 pm. Thanks to Karen for her work in planning this meeting, running Zoom and posting reports, and conducting the quiz!
