The new Gault Millau WeinGuide Deutschland – for 2019 – was published on November 13, 2018. It reviews on about 1000 pages more than 11.500 wines of 1065 wineries.

Its rating symbol for winemakers is a grape and Germany’s best winemakers are awarded one to five grapes. The wines are rated using the 1 to 100 points scale.

In the Gault Millau WeinGuide Deutschland 2019, seven wines got 100 points. None of them was a world famous noble-sweet wine. Three of them were dry white wines. Three of them were red wines. One of them was a Sekt.

"Time and again I'm being asked if the best German Pinot Noir can really compete with the top Pinot wines from Burgundy," says editor-in-chief Britta Wiegelmann. "My conviction is yes, absolutely. And precisely because they are not copies. The wines which were awarded 100 points this year tell us about their unique German terroir with breathtaking precision, finesse, harmony and emotion - and that's exactly why they rank equally among the world's greatest growths."

In total, I am releasing 4 postings with regard to the Gault Millau WeinGuide Deutschland 2019
