we drove back to our hotel in Kaysersberg and enjoyed dinner a 3-course wine-pairing dinner with 5 wines at Restaurant La Veille Forge.
Kaysersberg
Before dinner we had some time stroll through the town of Kaysersberg. At this time the shops were still open.
Also worth seeing is the magnificent Renaissance palace of the Hôtel de Ville (town hall) and next to it the church of Saine-Croix with the altar of 1518 with its 18 painted wooden reliefs depicting the passion of Christ and his resurrection.
Restaurant La Veille Forge
A short walk away from our hotel, Restaurant La Veille Forge is located in a beautiful historic 15th century
traditional Alsatian house in Kaysersberg, owned by the Gutleben family.
Chef de cuisine is daughter Laurine Gutleben. She did her training at 2* Michelin chef Oliver Nasti, and at Maison TroisGros, the famous 3* Michelin restaurant. In 2010 she won the title of Best Apprentice of France.
Sommelier (and Laurin's husband) Antoine Bauer heads the service team.

Beyond the rustic façade of this charming 16C house some lovely surprises lie in store: chef Laurine Gutleben's dishes give pride of place to fresh produce and free rein to creativity, for instance the beef shoulder confit with a meat jus and dauphine potatoes. Great wine list, with a selection from Alsace and beyond.
