A new era begins at VDP.Rheingau, the Rheingau chapter of the Association of German Prädikat Wine Estates (VDP): After 27 years, Wilhelm Weil of Weingut Dr. Robert Weil steps down as President and Mark Barth of Wein- und Sektgut Barth, who previously served as one of the Vice Presidents takes over. Also, Dieter Salomon, previously Weingut Schloss Johannisberg, was appointed as new Managing Director. We wish Mark and Dieter all the best und hope to see them soon at this year's Riesling Gala at the Eberbach Monastery.

VINUM: Wechsel beim VDP.Rheingau: Neuer Vorsitzender ist Mark Barth

Eine neue Ära beginnt beim VDP.Rheingau: Nach 27 Jahren verabschiedet sich Wilhelm Weil als Vorsitzender des Verbands. Zu seinem Nachfolger wurde nun Mark Barth gewählt, Inhaber des Wein- und Sektguts Barth in Hattenheim, der bisher der Stellvertretende Vorsitzende der Rheingauer Abteilung des Verbands Deutscher Prädikatsweingüter (VDP) war. 

Prominenter Winzer verabschiedet sich

Mit Wilhelm Weil, Inhaber des Weinguts Robert Weil in Kiedrich, verabschiedet sich eine der prägendsten Persönlichkeiten der deutschen Weinwelt aus der Spitze des Regionalverbands. 

Profil des Rheingaus wird schärfer und moderner

Mark Barth kündigte an, den Regionalverband unter dem Leitmotiv «Zeitgeist Rheingau – Herkunft neu gedacht» weiterzuentwickeln. «Vor allem geht es uns aber darum, unsere historischen Stärken – Herkunft, Pioniergeist, Cool Climate und klares Rebsortenprofil – so zu übersetzen, dass sie heute wieder maximale Relevanz entfalten», erklärte Mark Barth.

Im Fokus: Neue Zielgruppen und Kooperationen

Er konkretisierte: «Wir machen hier grosse Weine aus grossen Herkünften – wir müssen damit in der Breite aber mehr stattfinden. Ich möchte, dass wir mehr Lebensfreude und Zugänglichkeit vermitteln. Wir wollen die individuellen Stärken unserer Mitglieder herausstellen und aktiv als Wettbewerbsvorteile unserer Region positionieren.» Im Fokus sollen dabei die internationale Positionierung, neue Zielgruppen, die Gastronomie, Kultur, urbane Plattformen und eine «emotionaleren Ansprache rund um Genuss und Lebensfreude» stehen.

Auch neuer Geschäftsführer tritt an

Zeitgleich mit dem Wechsel beim Vorsitz hat der Rheingauer VDP mit Dieter Salomon auch einen neuen Geschäftsführer bekommen. Er folgt auf Mathias Ganswohl, der das Amt seit 2013 innehatte.Salomon und die neuen Stellvertretenden Vorsitzenden des VDP.Rheingau, Julia Seyffardt (Weingut Diefenhardt) und Johannes Eser (Johannishof Eser), unterstützen Mark Barth in seiner neuen Rolle.
