Visiting Briedé Family Vineyards in Winchester, Virginia, with Laurette and Paul Briedé, USA

Earlier this month, Annette Schiller and I had 2 hours in Martinsburg, West Virginia, and we decided to go to Briedé Family Vineyards in Winchester, Virginia, which is owned and run by Paul and Loretta Briedé. Our son Benjamin was part of the Briedé team until recently. In fact, Briede Family Vineyards is related to vinotheque_briede, Frankfurt am Main, Germany, a leading wine bar in Frankfurt.

Paul and Loretta: We are a small boutique winery located in the Shenandoah Valley. We are a different winery in that we grow "Hybrid" grapes. Our International award winning wines including our "Arandell" have won a Silver Medal recently in the 2020 International Sommelier Challenge in California in a blind tasting. Come sit and enjoy our charming venue with a glass of wine from one of the best winemakers in the state. Paul and I would love to share our passion for wine with you. Don't forget our selection of lovely sparkling wines and champagnes from around the world.

Paul, a former United pilot, and Loretta Briedé of Winchester, Virginia, purchased the land in 2002 and established the Briedé Family Vineyards in 2013. The years before the vineyard was established, the fields around the main house were used for Loretta's hunter horses. They love great wine and now had the means to pursue a new adventure.

It was a lovely hour out there with great wines and music. Unfortunately we could not stay longer. But we will be back. Definitely.
