Annette and I went back to Frankfurt, Germany. On the way to Frankfurt, we stopped for one night at Hotel AlpenSchlössl in Söll, Wilder Kaiser, Tyrol, where our grandchildren Viatrix and Ernst, who live in Munich, were skiing with their parents over the weekend. We had half-board.

Hotel AlpenSchlössl: In the middle of the countryside far away from the large towns lies the Hotel AlpenSchlössl on a picturesque plateau in Söll, Wilden Kaiser in Tyrol. Surrounded by an unspoilt landscape encompassed from sun kissed meadows and tranquil forests is our family run 4- star hotel a peaceful refuge in the middle of the Tyrolean Mountains. Holidays are easy on all levels at the Hotel AlpenSchlössl - wellness, enjoyment, living comfort and absolute variety in summer as well as in winter. And all with the warmth of the Ager host family. A time-out in the countryside to fall in love with.

Tripadvisor: What a beautiful family run hotel. So warm and comfy, really super food and service, swimming pool area very nice ...and the sauna area fantastic. Hotel room very nice and pillows are so comfortable. Will be back for sure and would highly recommend.

On the way back from Söll, Wilder Kaiser, to Munich, we stopped at the beautiful Tegernsee in Bavaria, south of Munich, for lunch.

Before the final stretch of our trip, back to Frankfurt, we went to rotWeissrot (Austrian wine) and furore (German wine) in Muncih to buy some wine.

rotWeissrot was found 20 years ago by Gerhard Bieber, a friend of my cousin Matthias Ehrlich. We celebrated the turn of the millennium with Gerhard Bieber and his wife at the house of my cousin Matthias and other friends 23 years ago in Munich. I remember Gerhard talking about his plans to change career and venture into wine.

In addition to building an outstanding portfolio of Austrian wines, Gerhard has added an impressive German portfolio over the years and recently has branched out into French wine. Chapeau Gerhard!
