The German State Department recently drew up a new list of German wines that the 226 diplomatic missions should serve on official occasions.

Wine Critic Stephan Reinhardt, who covers Germany for Robert Parker, tested the 19 recommendations.

The list was prepared by a jury of high-ranking employees of the Federal Foreign Office. After an invitation to tender, 305 wines were pre-selected for the 2023 range, and 61 made it into the final. After a blind tasting, 19 made it onto the order list for embassies and consulates.

The prices for the wines, ex-winery, range from Euro 6.75 to Euro 23.
