Labor Day Holiday Weekend 2023 at the Beach on Assateague Island and in Ocean City, Maryland, USA

On Labor Day Weekend 2023, at very short notice, we went for 2 days to the beach. There were 10 of us, 4 adults and 6 children: Dorothea, Chris, Johanna, Viggo, Leo, Lorelei, Otto, Heidi, Annette and me. Everthing was pretty much booked, but we were able to find nice accomodation at the Hilton Suites in Ocean City.

Going: Bay Bridge

Coming from the Frederick or the Washington DC area, there is only one way to get to the beach: Via the impressive Bay Bridge.

Lunch in Berlin, Maryland

On the way to Ocean City, we stopped in Berlin, Maryland, for lunch at the Sterling Tavern.

I had fried oysters, French fries and coleslaw.

At the Beach in Assateague State Park

On the first day, we spent the afternoon with wild horses at the beach of Assateague island.

Assateagues is a 37-mile long barrier island, famous for its beautiful beaches, wild horses and abundant birds.

On the Ocean City Boardwalk

After checking in at the Hilton Suites, which was pretty much up in the North of Ocean City, we had pizza for dinner. The evening ended with a stroll on the Ocean City Boardwalk. The Ocean City Boardwalk is three miles long and lined with hotels, restaurants, bars, shops and amusements.

On the second day, after breakfast at the hotel, we spent the morning and early afternoon at beach of Ocean City.

Late Lunch/ Early Dinner at Fish Tales

The stay in Ocean City ended with a meal at Fish Tales

A casual dining experience for the whole family ovterlooking the bay on 21st Street. Fish Tales, located in Bahia Marina, used to be just a locals hang out. Throughout the years the "word" has spread about this treasure on the bay. Come join the fun day or night.

I had the seafood platter with shrimp, scallops, crab cake and cod.
