Gianlorenzo Neri (Owner) Presents Casanova di Neri, Montalcino, Italy, #worldclass, at Chain Bridge Cellars in McLean, Virginia, USA (March 2026)

Gianlorenzo Neri of legendary Casanova di Neri, Montalcino, Italy, #worldclas Brunello di Montalcino producer, standing at the tasting table at Chain Bridge Cellars in McLean Virginia.

We will be there in June during our Tuscany tour by Annette Schiller Ombiasy Public Relations and Wine Tours (which is fully booked).

Tuscany: 11 days, 10 nights - Monday, June 08 - Thursday, June 18, 2026

Few regions evoke such a feeling of longing as Tuscany. And indeed, this region is unique with its blend of history, incredible scenic beauty, magnificent wines, outstanding food and its "Dolce Vita".

Tuscany is located in Central Italy very roughly between Bologna and Rome and borders the Tyrrhenian Sea to the West with Florence as its most prestigious city and Siena, the historic Etruscan city. Tuscany is an absolutely beautiful landscape of rolling hills and incredible views. Most vineyards -except for the vineyards of Bolgheri and Maremma - are on relatively steep and abrupt hillsides. The hilly Tuscan vineyards are usually interspersed with olive groves, and forests. Most wine estates are fairly distant from the main roads and only accessible by winding dirt roads littered with potholes.

We will do winery visits and thorough tastings at top wine estates in the Chianti, Chianti Classico, Montalcino, Montepulciano, Bolgheri, and Maremma appellations.

The tour starts and ends in Florence. I booked accommodation in beautiful places: the first 4 nights we stay at a winery / hotel / restaurant in Panzano-Greve in the Chianti Classico appellation, the following 4 nights we also stay at a wine estate with accommodation and an on-site restaurant just south of the town of Montalcino, and the last 2 nights we can relax in a beautiful 5-star spa-beach-resort at the coast of the Tyrrhenian Sea in the Bolgheri region.

Invitation

Gianlorenzo Neri Presents Casanova di Neri

Friday, March 20

4, 5, & 6 pm tasting slots

RSVP to help us plan

Here’s why it’s worth planning to arrive right at 4, 5 or 6 pm for this Friday’s free tasting: You’ll find Gianlorenzo Neri of Montalcino’s legendary Casanova di Neri standing at the tasting table.

And if you’ll give him 30-40 minutes, he’ll introduce you to one of the world’s top red wine estates through a brilliant tasting of six wines.

  • Casanova di Neri Toscana Irrosso 2022
  • Casanova di Neri Rosso di Montalcino Giovanni Neri 2023
  • Casanova di Neri Pietradonice Toscana Cabernet Sauvignon 2021
  • Casanova di Neri Brunello di Montalcino White Label 2021
  • Casanova di Neri Brunello di Montalcino Tenuta Nuova 2020
  • Casanova di Neri Brunello di Montalcino Cerretalto 2019

That last one? A $450-plus, 100 point Brunello di Montalcino that will take your breath away. Although that’s true of most any wine carrying the Neri family name!

And there’s no better time to meet Gianlorenzo, as he and his brother, Giovani, take the winery helm from their dad, Giacomo Neri, who's retiring. They're stepping into the shoes of one of Brunello di Montalcino’s pioneers and still the only Brunello winemaker to ever earn 100 points from Wine Spectator.

You can come anytime, but if you can, RSVP for one of the three tasting slots so we can steer others to the sessions that will be less crowded. Gianlorenzo will start each session close to the scheduled time and then take time to chat with you and sign bottles as requested. If you miss the beginning of one session, don’t worry – we’ll catch you up after it’s done and before the next slot begins.

At normal retail, purchasing one bottle each of these six wines would cost more than $800. They’ll be on sale at much better prices than that!

Whether you’re in the market for some of the most exciting and sought-after wines in all Montalcino or just want to enjoy a great – and free! – start to your weekend, this is the tasting for you.

Casanova di Neri (Wine-Searcher)

Casanova di Neri is a wine producer located in Montalcino, Tuscany. It is famous for its Brunello di Montalcino wines, but makes a range of other wines, including a premium Cabernet Sauvignon and an interesting blend of Vermentino and Grechetto.

The estate was founded in 1971 by Giovanni Neri and remains family-owned to this day. There are 63 hectares (155 acres) of vines on the property, planted on soils made up of alluvial stone, degraded rock, iron and magnesium with various microclimates. There are seven other vineyards within the company's holdings that are all spread throughout Montalcino region.

The vineyards are mainly planted to Sangiovese to provide grapes for the collection of single-vineyard wines, standard Brunellos as well as a Rosso di Montalcino. Across all of the vineyards, the Sangiovese grapes planted are sourced from a single clone from the Cerrealto vineyard allowing the wine collection to exhibit the terroir of each site.

The Casanova di Neri winery is mostly underground to create a cool climate and keep the need for refridgeration low. It also creates the ideal temperature and humidity for aging wine in the cellar. It has been constructed across three different levels to take advantage of gravity during the winemaking process.
