Alto Adige 2026 by ombiasy WineTours, led by Annette Schiller, took place from Sunday, September 06 - Sunday, September 13, 2026.
Being
the northernmost wine region of Italy, Alto Adige is a very
special place where Italian and German traditions merge. It is a
fascinating and unique region in the Alpes. It boasts of an
extraordinary variety of landscapes: snow-capped mountains in the
Dolomites, fertile valleys, streams, century-old breathtakingly
beautiful towns true to their hybrid Germanic-Italian culture.
During this tour we did not change
hotels. We stayed 7 nights at the famous, beautiful 5-star Art-Nouveau
style Parkhotel Laurin in Bozen.

The program for the third day was:
Muri-Gries is a historic Benedictine monastery and winery known for its Lagrein wines, dating back to the 13th century. The visit included a tour of the monastery, the famous Klosteranger vineyard and the wine cellar as well as a tasting of the wine portfolio. Technical Director Manfred Bernhard joined us for a part of the tour and the tasting.
(2) Cantina Nals Margreid. Winery tour and tasting.
(3) Lunch @Gasthof Apollonia, a Michelin rated inn up in the mountains with stunning panoramic views of the Dolomites and traditional South Tyrolean cuisine.
(4) Visit of Weingut Untermoserhof in St. Magdalena.
Current owner and winemaker Florian Ramoser was our host, along with his father Georg Ramoser. This winery belongs to the group of small family owned wineries, which account for 10% of the wine production in Alto Adige. Large private wineries account for 20% and co-operatives for 70%. Importantly, the co-ops in Alto Adige are all elite wine producers, with the co-operative Terlan probably being the flagship producer of the area. Florian's #worldclass wines are available in the USA through Schatzi Wines
(5) Winding down with a bottle of Lagrein at Toma by Lisa wine bar, our favorite wine bar in Bozen
Gasthaus Apollonia
Gasthaus Apollonia is a Michelin Bib Gourmand, traditional South Tyrolean restaurant located in Nals, at an altitude of about 900 meters. It has been operated by the Geiser family since 1962.
Getting there is part of the experience: you follow a winding road uphill through vineyards, fruit orchards, and dense woodland. Once you arrive, the restaurant offers spectacular panoramic views overlooking Terlano in the valley and the majestic Dolomite peaks (including Sciliar, Catinaccio, and Latemar). It features a beautiful outdoor dining terrace.
The kitchen blends down-to-earth South Tyrolean traditions with contemporary Italian influences, strictly emphasizing seasonal, local ingredients.
Gasthaus Apollonia - Michelin Guide
Michelin Guide: Following a road that twists and turns uphill, surrounded at first by vineyards and fruit trees and then by woodland, you climb to an altitude of 900m to reach this restaurant run by the Geiser family, who have been serving simple yet delicious regional (and Italian) cuisine here for three generations. With a focus on seasonal ingredients from the Alto Adige, the menus feature specialities such as potato rosti with beetroot, baked pumpkin, broccoli and porcini mushroom cream, as well as home-made tarts and sorbets. The beautiful views take in Terlano in the middle of the valley and the majestic Dolomites (including Sciliar, Catinaccio and Latemar) in the distance.
