Annette led a tasting at the NoLoCo (Northern Loudon County) Chapter of the American Wine Society. The subject was: A Journey Through the Bordeaux Wine Region.
The selection was very much influenced by the decision of the President of the NoLoCo Chapter to budget US$ 35 per person, the seating constraints of 25 participants, and the decision to buy two bottles of each wine.
As
a result, the tasting was less high-end than could have been with different parameters. Still, a
most interesting and entertaining tasting.
The NoLoCo Chapter meets at the private home of a member. The tasting in the afternoon is always followed by a pot-luck dinner.
All wines were bought at MacArthur Beverage in Washington DC. Thanks Phil Bernstein for making this tasting possible.

Annette
Schiller presented “A Journey Through the Bordeaux Wine Region.” She
shared her very extensive knowledge about the history of winemaking in
the regions within Bordeaux,
the wine rules and classifications, the geography and terroir, and
various châteaux and winemakers. Annette guided us through the following
regions and presented eight wines:

with European winemakers, but also does presentations at the AWS
national conference each year and conducts wine tours to Germany,

It was a real treat to meet in the “art museum” with its views of the lake and the gardens surrounding the house. We all thank Ginger and Allan for making us feel so welcome (which involved moving aside not only the furniture, but the artworks in order to fit 23 people, a projector, and a screen into the living room)
